If you’re serving food at your next event or occasion then you’re going to need plates of some description. We’ve worked hard to bring you the biggest range of plates in different sizes, shapes and colours.

What do I need to know about plates for hire

Plates come in lots of different shapes and sizes but there are some standards that you can use to plan your plate hire needs. The smallest size of circular plate we do is are six inches in diameter and are commonly used as side plates of bread plates. Eight inch plates are used for starters and desserts, while ten inch plates are used for main plates for meals. If your guests have big appetites you might choose to go for the 12 inch version instead.

Square plates are often used for meals, but care must be taken when deciding what to use. These are measured diagonally, so the size given is for corner to corner rather than side to side.

You can also choose if you want winged plates, which come with a raised area which is used for holding them, or straight plates.

Do plates for hire need to be cleaned before they are collected?

We know that washing up crockery isn't the nicest thing to do the day after a big event - but did you know that this is when crockery is most likely to get broken while out on hire?

It's because of this we have made it mandatory for all crockery items to have the send it back dirty option added at checkout. The only thing we ask of our customers is that food debris is scraped off plates and bowls etc and that all liquids are emptied out before crockery is packed up ready for collection.

How do I get plates for hire delivered

We’ve made it easier than ever to work out how much it will cost to get your event hire order delivered. Simply tap the Expo Hire Birmingham logo anywhere on the website to take you to the homepage, where you will find our carriage calculator button. Enter your postcode into the clever widget and it will confirm not only what the costs for delivery and collection are, but confirm which of our websites is closest to you so you don’t need to worry about overpaying.

We’ve also listed every possible extra charge on the carriage calculator page. If applicable, these charges are confirmed in the checkout once you have confirmed your delivery dates and address and are itemised in full so that there are no nasty surprises.
